When renting an apartment in the Tri-City, you should bear a few rules in mind. Many owners of seaside estates sign leases for eight months in order to rerent their apartments during the summer season charging a higher rent. This concerns especially properties in Sopot.
The Tri-City, just like any big agglomeration, has its so-called bedroom suburbs. There is a wide range of building types in Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia - from blocks of flats of old-times and the new, shell and core apartments. In Gdańsk, the title of bedroom suburb has been given to the districts of Zaspa (known as the bedroom of the Tri-City), Chełm, Jasień and Ujeścisko-Łostowice.>
The Pogorze district is located in the south of Kepa Oksywska and is surrounded by the ice-marginal valleys of the Reda and Chylonka rivers. The housing development of the district consists mainly of detached houses, as well as blocks of flats. The road to Rewa, which runs across Pogorze, is a major tourist attraction, as in large parts its winding like a mountain road, which offers a unique view on the city of Gdynia located in the valley.
The southern district of Gdynia consists mainly of charming, low-rises erected along narrow streets running downhill towards the sea. On the seashore, Orlowo opens up onto a beach with a pier - one of the three piers in the Tricity. Tthe Abandoned Sanatorium [Opuszczone Sanatorium] stretches down to the shore in Orlowo. The cliffs in Orlowo are one the most popular walking sites among the inhabitants of the Tricity.

This seaside, green district of Gdynia is adjacent to Babie Doly, Obluze and Srodmiescie. Oksywie is enclosed by the sea from the east. There used to be a settlement there, which was the oldest settlement in Gdynia.
The name of the district comes from a legend about a Kashubian traveler, who, moved by the beautiful landscape, whispered in his dialect “O Bleze, jak tu pieknie” [“Oh God, how beautiful it is here”]. The southern part of the district is covered with high skyscrapers, while in its northernmost part, you can find vast allotments.
Brzezno is a district that most summer people are surely familiar with. You will find here wide, sandy beaches, parks, seaside promenades and cycling lanes. The surrounding environment definitely encourages you to take relaxing strolls.
Rudniki is an industrial district in Gdansk with car showrooms, warehouses, wholesale stores, facilities belonging to the Gdansk Refinery and rare residential buildings.
The southern district of Gdynia is located on the two sides of Wielkopolska street and it consists mainly of detached houses. It is adjacent to Sopot and many other districts of Gdynia. In the northern part of the district, there are a few important sports facilities, as well as Luzycka office center.
Leszczynki stretches out between Morska street and Estakada Kwiatkowskiego. It is a very green district dominated by detached houses.

The smallest district in Gdynia takes pride in its historical architecture, which was listed among national historical monuments. The housing development of the district consists primarily of villas. The district, located on a moraine hill, descends towards the sea, where you can take a stroll along the Seaside Boulevard [Bulwar Nadmorski].
The district is well connected to the public transport system thanks to the Morska street that runs across it. Not too far away, there are woodlands and numerous cycling lanes.
The district is located close to Gdynia’s city center. It abuts train tracks from the east and the Tricity Landscape Park forests from the west. The residential housing development consists primarily of low-rise multi-family houses and detached houses.
Dabrowa is by far the youngest districts of Gdynia. Most of it is covered by forests and reservoirs, which makes it a perfect place of residence for families with children that enjoy spending time actively.
Olszynka, located at the far end of Gdansk, is dominated mainly by old detached houses and allotments. The district is surrounded by the Motlawa river from the south and the west, which provides a variety of terrains perfect for walks and recreation.
The district is located along the St. Adalbert’s Route [Trakt Sw. Wojeciecha] - the main entry road to Gdansk from the south. The architecture of the district is dominated by tenement houses and cobbled streets from before WWII. The Radunia Channel and Orunia Park are the two favorite recreational sites of the local inhabitants. Along the channel, there is a well-maintained cycling lane, which makes it possible to quickly get from Pruszcz Gdanski all the way up to Gdynia.
Thanks to a train station, you can reach other parts of the Tricity very easily with regional trains.
Vast housing developments built mainly in the 90s and the expansion of other housing developments is still ongoing. A part of the district is occupied by detached houses and allotments. There are also many points of sale.
A rapidly expanding district on the south of Gdansk. Small parks, water reservoirs and playgrounds are being created among newly developed housing developments, which encourages relaxation.
Kokoszki is quite far away from the city center. The district is generally industrial with many warehouses as well as several farmsteads, but in the new part of Kokoszki, there is an abundance of housing estates and detached houses being built.
Located near the Gdansk Bypass, it allows you to move comfortably around the Tricity in a car.
This island district at the eastern end of Gdansk is visited in great numbers especially in the summer season. Its woody surroundings and beautiful wide beaches encourage you to relax, take a walk or cycle. It is the third largest island on the Polish Baltic shore. The housing development is dominated by low-rise buildings, mainly detached houses, but due to its remoteness from the city center, the locals treat it more as a destination for weekend outings rather than a place of permanent residence. In the summer, there are ferries running from Swibno to Mikoszewo.
This district, located at the eastern end of Gdansk, is a mecca for sailors and windsurfers. It is surrounded by the Gdansk Bay from the north, by the Smiala Wisla river from the east and the Martwa Wisla river from the south. It used to be a fishing village, but today, it is covered with detached houses.
The central district of Gdansk. This is where you will find the historic part of Gdansk with such historical monuments as, among others, the Long Market [Dlugi Targ], St. Mary’s Church [Bazylika Mariacka], the fountain of Neptune and the Crane, as well the most theaters, clubs, pubs and restaurants. Przerobka is located on the Stogi island right next to the city center. Its architecture consists primarily of tenement houses and apartment buildings. The northern part of the district is occupied by industrial buildings and the island’s northernmost part is Westerplatte. From the Siennicki Bridge, you can appreciate the views onto Gdansk’s shipyards.
Stogi is a district located on the island of the same name. It is most famous for its wide, sandy beaches and a bathing area. It used to be a tourist resort, but nowadays, the outlying district has transformed into another residential district of Gdansk. The architecture consists primarily of blocks of flats and low-rise multi-family housing. Its proximity to the sea, the forest, walking paths and cycling lanes allows you to relax amidst nature.
Mlyniska played an important part in Gdansk’s history, as this is where the three largest shipyards are situated - Gdansk Shipyard, Remontowa Shipyard and Polnocna Shipyard. A stroll among the shipyard’s cranes and halls is a must for every visitor who wants to experience the industrial feel of Gdansk. The district is also home to a vast housing estate called “The Green Triangle” [“Zielony Trojkat”].
The smallest district of Gdansk which comprises merely of detached houses and a few terraced houses. Interestingly enough, all the street names in Wzgorze Mickiewicza refer to the writings of the Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz. Due to its small size, there are no playgrounds and few bus stops in the district and its inhabitants use the facilities and the public transport of the neighboring districts.
This residential district is dominated by blocks of flats and detached houses. There are many shops, service centers and playgrounds there. Thanks to Suchanino’s location between Wrzeszcz and Srodmiescie, it is very near Gdansk’s most important points.
The district, located on top of moraine hills, is simply called “Morena” [moraine] by Gdansk’s inhabitants. It is one of the biggest residential districts in Gdansk and it is still growing rapidly continuously richer in new housing estates. The old part of the district is dominated by blocks of flats, while the new part is covered with and low-rise multi-dwelling units and detached houses. The surrounding forests of the Tricity Landscape Park and the Sparrow’s Pond [Staw Wrobla] allow you to get in close contact with nature.
There are two PKM train stations (Jasien and Bretowo) at the edge of the district, thanks to which the Piecki-Migowo district is very well connected with the rest of the Tricity’s districts.
The name of the district comes from a port channel that was built there. The district’s character of a port town has been preserved until today, as long as pre-war tenement buildings, a lighthouse and old granaries along the Martwa Wisla riverbank. After the war, precast concrete panel apartment buildings were built here. The proximity to the sea enables you to walk back home from work or school among beautiful scenery.
There is a water taxi stop in Nowy Port, which allows you to go on a water excursion around the area in the spring and the summer seasons.
Up until a few years ago, the district had been dominated by old tenement buildings and allotments, but the district underwent a revitalization because of EURO 2012 and a modern sports stadium was built there along with an exhibition center. Today, new housing estates are being built across the district.
Wrzeszcz is one of the most crucial districts of Gdansk and it has been divided into two administrative parts - Wrzeszcz Gorny (Upper Wrzeszcz) and Wrzeszcz Dolny (Lower Wrzeszcz). Wrzeszcz Gorny has been an important commercial and transport hub of the Tricity with the majority of sales and service points located along Grunwaldzka street. The ample housing development consists of blocks of flats, tenement houses, detached houses and even pre-war villas. A modern housing estate “Garnizon” is being constructed on lands formerly owned by the military. There are also many parks in the district and the vast nearby Jaskowa Dolina Park is perfect both for spring hikes and winter frenzies on the sledge.

Wrzeszcz is one of the most crucial districts of Gdansk and it has been divided into two administrative parts - Wrzeszcz Gorny (Upper Wrzeszcz) and Wrzeszcz Dolny (Lower Wrzeszcz). This rather small district owes its name to the Strzyza Stream with its source in Kielpin. Strzyza is mainly covered with detached houses and low-rise multi-family buildings, it is very well connected with the neighboring business centers in Oliwa and with Wrzesz.

The district is surrounded by the Tricity Landscape Park’s forest from the south and the west and its name comes from a manor complex formerly located in the area. VII Dwor consists mainly of low-rise apartment buildings and detached houses.
Exactly one half of Przymorze Wielkie consists of the biggest blocks of flats called ‘falowce’, while the other half is covered by the biggest park in Gdansk - Reagan Park. The falowiec at Obroncow Wybrzeza street is the longest building of this type in Poland - it is as long as 860 meters. Between the blocks, you will find there are many shops and service facilities, as well as playgrounds, schools and preschools.
Przymorze Male consists mainly of apartment buildings, but there are also tenement and detached houses in its northern and southern parts; it is also home to numerous educational and service facilities, as well as shops. Located near business centers and the sea at the same time, it is a very popular settlement choice.

Interestingly, most street names in the district refer to ancient beliefs and Greek or Roman myths. The district is located behind the Tricity bypass road, in the vicinity of the Oliwa forests.
The proximity to the Tricity Bypass, as well as to a PKM train station allows you to quickly move between the other districts of Gdansk and the vicinities.
Oliwa is among the largest districts in Gdansk, enclosed by forested hills from the south and opened onto the sea. It combines the business hub of Gdansk, historic architecture and places of nature perfect for taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Just like Sopot, it used to enjoy the status of a health resort. The heart of the district is the historic park with the Abbot’s Palace and Oliwa Cathedral. While wandering around Oliwa, you will find tiny cafes and restaurants there, as well as interesting cultural events and a path leading to the forest covering the hills.
Oliwa has its own S-train station, as well as trams and buses organized around a tram balloon loop.
