Characteristics of academic offerings

The Tri-City, the capital of the Pomeranian Region, is the major academic centre of Northern Poland, but there are also universities in other cities across the region. What distinguishes us are Scandinavian studies courses and a wide range of fields of study connected to maritime education (from navigation, through ship construction to oceanography). International students

The region is enjoying a growing popularity among international students. This is because of the high quality of education and a wide selection of subjects taught in English. There are e.g. Ukrainians, Byelorussians and Russians studying at the University of Gdańsk. Technical subjects are the most popular among the Spanish, whereas medical studies are particularly appreciated by the Scandinavians. Most of the foreign students of the Gdynia Maritime Academy come from Angola.
