Tri-City Miniguide for Students – Places to Eat, Rest and Party

Another academic year has kicked off and thousands of students have returned to their universities or have just started their educational adventure in  Tri-City. Over the next couple of weeks, the latter will not only learn the charms of student life, but will also experience its hardships. A student’s budget is usually quite tight, but there are many places in  Tri-City where you can eat your fill, rest and party for a reasonable price. Check them out!

Student-Friendly Dining

Tasty, close to the university and affordable – you can find such food in  Tri-City, and it doesn’t have to be fast-food. Students who haven’t packed enough sandwiches to last an entire tough day at the university don’t have to be doomed.

You’ll find a very affordable lunch in Loveat, a bistro next to the station SKM Przymorze. As for dinner, you can visit Manekin, a crepes joint just outside the Gdansk University library. On the other hand, Pasibrzuch is one of the most popular spots amongst students of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of the Gdansk University of Technology. It’s a place which will satisfy even the healthiest appetite for under twenty zlotys.

Plenty, cheap and tasty – this must’ve been the motto of the creators of Turystyczny Milk Bar in Szeroka Street, which hasn’t changed much since the 1950s. An alternative to this classic place is Mandu with its delicious dumplings and welcoming atmosphere. Also the restaurants’ offer in Sopot does not have to shock with high prices. In Forma na Talerzu you will order food which is inexpensive and healthy.

In Gdynia, students have an opportunity to eat traditional Italian meals priced like dinners in Polish milk bars. They just have to visit Swietojanska Street and go out for dinner to Maka i Kawa or Pasta Miasta. Swietojanska is also a perfect place for those of you who’d like to taste something else – you will find there several bistros which serve crepes or hamburgers, as well as a vegan restaurant, Feed My Soul. You should be able to buy a wholesome lunch for under twenty zlotys.

Where to Unwind?

It’s tough to come up with a better place to rest in the bosom of nature than the beach. Its presence is a huge advantage of the Tri-City. However, especially during the winter semester, the weather isn’t always welcoming, and you can get tired of the sea and sand. So where can you find your well-deserved rest? There is a relaxing view of the city from Kamienna Gora in Gdynia, while lovers of architecture should take at least one look at the panorama of Gdansk from the top of the St. Mary’s Basilica Tower. New students for sure won’t regret a visit in the Solidarity Centre and the Emigration Museum in Gdynia.

The historic Oliwa Park has got to be one of the most picturesque places to take a walk in all of the Tri-City. In Gdynia a similar function is served by the charming Kamienna Gora, that we’ve already mentioned, in which is bustling with social and cultural life during the warmest months. Next, there is the Ronald Reagan Park in Gdansk, which is a perfect place for seaside relaxation, jogging and other physical activities. You will also find a skatepark there.

It’s Time to Party!

After a difficult week of studying and well-deserved rest, it’s time to party. Do you think that the best clubs are characterized by steep prices and high cover charges? Not necessarily in Tri-City. You should visit the popular Mewa Towarzyska club in Sopot. Every day is a good day to drop by Sliwka w kompot where you may eat an affordable, delicious pizza and, in the evening, especially during weekends, attend a party.

You will also enjoy the atmospheres of concerts and events organized in the Spoldzielnia pub, which isn’t far off from the campus of the University of Gdansk. Another place that you should visit, and which is popular for some years now, is Ygrek which after nightfall bustles with life and is worth visiting if you’re interested in karaoke. Those who enjoy singing and other fun activities will also feel at home in Gdynia – Bukszpryt is definitely a place created for students, where no one should be bored.

Tri-City is a perfect place for young people who like to lead an active life and don’t like boredom. There is something for everyone, regardless of preferences. Come to Tri-City and experience its numerous possibilities for yourselves! Are you already intrigued?
